Something of a surprise, when this grass snake suddenly crossed the path just in front of me. This shot was the best I could do: A moment later it was completely out of sight in the undergrowth!

another skink who climbed over this toad. Since I made habitat for the skinks I there there are around 20 now. First toad I have ever seen in the yard. Figure theres room for amphibians here as well.

What nightmares are made of

Pentax K-7, DA18-55 WR

While visiting Killarney Provincial Park back in 2013, we one day visited the Georgian Bay coastline. Let me excessively clear, I am not a fan of the snake-kind. So when the kids and I started walking out on a hot spit of rock it was a hair raising realization that the whole area was covered in long meaty Northern Water snakes sunning themselves on the red rock. That said, being an intrepid photographer I could not resist a few shots.

Great shots Charlie. They reminded me to look for some shots from a few months back. I came home from work as usual and heard a frog croaking but thought nothing of it. After it continued for an hour I went looking and found this snake trying to eat the green tree frog. The frog was puffed up and the snake was never going to be able to swallow it. I figure it was not venomous as the frog hopped away so no animals were harmed in this production.
