The old Paramatta River Railway Bridge at Meadowbank (west of Sydney) has now been converted for pedestrian/cycle use. This old bridge is situated next to the more modern railway bridge that crosses the Paramatta River between Rhodes and Meadowbank.
The cast iron bridge was fabricated in England and erected in 1886. It carried trains until 1980 when a new parallel railway bridge was built. The old bridge was opened for pedestrian and cycle use in 2000. The bridge links the Ryde district with Homebush Bay. It links with a 3 klm shared pathway around Homebush and Shepherds Bays.
It can also be reached by ferry from the nearby Meadowbank Wharf.
