Muncaster Castle

In 1208 the land was granted to the Pennington family, and it is still their home.

Tradition has it that this extra-long term occupancy is due to possession of a glass drinking bowl called the magical ‘Luck of Muncaster’, which once belongied to Henry VI. Henry gave it to the family in 1464 declaring that as long as it remained intact, Penningtons would live and thrive at Muncaster. And if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you.
