Thank you!

Motorised land transport came later to the fjords than many other places. For millennia the main mode of transportation has been boats. The land on either side is very steep and ill suited for road building. When we arrived on our visit the last bit went through a 3-4 km tunnel onto a ferry then straight into another 4 km tunnel, along a road partly carved into the mountain side, over a bridge, then winding on at the other side through multiple more short tunnels. Horse and cart wasn't a bad option for local transportation before all the tunnels were blasted.

Actually, the word "fjord" originally meant "a place to travel over", or to cross to the other side. It is related to the English words ford and fare, and the Scottish firth.
Thank you for that enlightening explanation. I would really like to see that part of the world as my great-grandfather came from Sweden.

Jorgario -- you are getting great perspectives and tonalities out of that 12-24mm lens.
