the key to this statue located outside of the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka is the position of the spear tip under the Native American's right arm
until I researched it, I didn't realize this was supposed to be an homage, the Native American is not hunting the animal but, as you can see when you look under the arm carefully, the spear tip is placed along side the animal's hide so as not to puncture it.
