Really, I probably would have scrapped it on account of the gabions but it works!

I'm probably a bit weird like that, but I've never had a problem with mixing pretty and ugly, mixed light sources etc - I just see it as another form of pictorial contrast that tells a story - as long as it isn't too distracting which it was in colour - but it was the jarring colour, not the actual structure that was distracting to me. That's just the way I do photography, for better or worse

Absolutely - it's quite a long creek, extending through several cities in the west-central metro DFW area.
