Charlie,
Yesterday was the start of the Kentucky Derby Festival and it opens with an air show over the Ohio River. I went downtown but did not hang around close enough to the river to get a view of the aircraft. They come by so low the buildings block the view unless one is at riverside or high up in a building. And when one is at riverside, one is bombarded by bass and drum driven pop music played at near harmful volumes. I wish I had checked the dB meter ap in my phone. I couldn’t stand it. (Side bar: In the 90s, before it was fashionable, I lived downtown and could watch the entire air show and fireworks display from my river front apartment on the edge of the “high crime” area. Now no one but really successful criminals or young successful professionals can afford to live NEAR that building.)
BACK ON TRACK: I believe the same Canadian Aerobatic team was here this year as they were last year when I took the picture below. Maybe still flying Harvard’s, I know I heard that distinctive drone from multiple engines down there.
SECONDLY! My Dad got his advanced flight training in the US Navy version, the SNJ Texan, before going on to fly anti-submarine seaplane patrols in the Pacific Theater. PB2Y Coronados mostly.
