Well, it is... sorta. It is now the BNSF Railway which is owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe, LLC. which, in turn, is owned by Berkshire-Hathaway.
I have great love for both the old CB&Q (Chicago, Burlington & Quincy RR) and the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway. My father was in charge of final assembly for the Budd Company which built stainless-steel railcars. And those two railways bought a lot of Budd cars putting food on our table.
My avatar is the the first diesel train – the Pioneer Zephyr. It was built by Budd's in 1934, set speed records and completely changed the concept of passenger rail travel.
