I'll go with a graphics card. Since the PCB is red, I'll say ATI chipset.

I was going to accept heatsink as an answer. But since sideways just hosted the last one, and since raz-O both correctly identified it as a gfx card and saw the small red spot I included and correctly identified it as an ATI card. Im gonna give it to him, good job

It's not a hot plate.

It is metal.

Uhm.. I don't know if I can show you much more in a bigger crop without it becoming obvious what it is.

So maybe the fact that you are seeing about 25-30% of the object in that picture will help.
