Funny about big bullfrogs. Every year I also spot one that seems to me the largest I've ever seen. Maybe they're evolving.
a week or so ago, I saw a mallard hen with 6 ducklings on the same pond

haven't seen them since

also saw a day or two ago a wood duck hen with only 1 duckling on the same pond

" the average clutch size is between 10-14 eggs. " - DEEP: Wood Duck Fact Sheet

I wonder if I found out why the bull frog looks so big?

More innocent creatures must be careful around predators that have a mouth that occupies 1/3 of their body, "Gulper" deep sea fish are another example, but in the fishy world, the one with the biggest (and quickest) mouth almost always wins, although as I told students for decades: In biology there are exceptions to every rule - including this one.

Water that has trickled and seeped across a forest floor, then encountered the lip of the historic, original entry to Mammoth Cave created by a prehistoric collapse that created a sinkhole and exposed part of the cave system. This "waterfall" may be too small to see in the WA view of the entry (to the left of the base of the stairs, I could see it easily when processing the image, but it's hard to spot at PF resolution)

I caught a break and was able to get this at 1/13 without too much wind movement.

Plenty of water drops here, mostly airborne. Rightfully this image belongs in the "waterfalls" thread, but I couldn't track it down. BTW: The large cloud of mist is supposed to create ghostly "Moon-bows" on some nights, allegedly one of a few waterfalls in the USA where you can routinely see this phenomenon.

Birthday Waterhole. Water was a rare sight along the Larapinta Trail, in the Australian outback. This waterhole was clean enough to dip in this year and, as it is not a sacred site, a welcome respite from the heat.

Well-tamed water, at least if it isn't an exceptionally wet Spring. Part of a system of industrial canals along the Connecticut River not too far south of where I live.

I'd forgotten this image, taken about five years back. Were it not for the water dropping over the rock at the upper right, you might not look for or see the flow over the foreground rock that is mostly marked by strips that are swept clean of leaves.
