Duc, super shots with the 105 - you use the FOV very effectively with the ostritch and giraffe.

here's a different look from the 105 - SMC, wide open, with an extension tube

Thanks, Jussi. I was lucky with the ostrich. It kept starring at me and stand right next to the fence.

Your capture has a great grainy feel. Was it natural or PP effect?

I like all the bokeh shots do far......
As a semi retired Pro who has always loved shooting macro flora I have looked at all your posts in this forum and it is pleasurable to finally see work from some one who not only knows how to shoot technically but also has an artistic eye.Well done.May I ask what set up re lenses and other equipment you mainly use?.

Duc, thanks right back ... the grain, some of it, is from a window screen that's about a foot or so behind, and the rest of it is from "ASA 25" grain I injected when I did the b&w conversion on Virtual Photographer. Good eyes!

Thanks for the kind comments kryss......

My set up isn't complicated.
I started with a K200 and two good macros lenses. A Sigma 70 and a DA 100.
Most of my posts are with those lenses.
The 2 most exotic lenses I use ( If you can call them that) are a sears 135 macro and an asahi close up lens that I mount on my FA 50. Those 2 can give a very narrow
DOF and extremely soft bokeh.

I use a manfrotto pro tripod with the center column that can go horizontal for those down low shots. The articulate legs help a lot too.

I look forward to testing out my new K7 and 35 limited this summer.....

Here's one shot with the asahi close up lens.

Okay, you know after that comment, I had to make the sacrifice and go back and shoot the elusive Canadian Maple donut that you are talking about. Shot from the hip so not the best shot in the world but that should work. :-)

That is torture. Had you taken a photo of a Canadian Maple donut, I would have to kill you. It was the first thing I ate when I last went to Canada, seconds after getting off the plane. And it was the last thing I ate before leaving again.

Waiting for the Sun

I don't like the strong vertical on the left, but it is the way they grow.
