Here's some northern lights shots from last week. I looked outside at bed time, and figured I better go for a drive. I went to a nearby lake that required 4wd to get through a few mud holes, then a 1/2 km walk through the forest without much of a trail to get to the lake. The first shot was taken on my way to the lake, even though it was a fairly cloudy night, the aurora was able to light up the clouds.
K1 and K24 f 3.5. 30 seconds @ ISO 3200 and either wide open or 1/2 stop away.
It was cloudy when I got to the lake I wanted to take photos at, but I still like this shot.
K1 and K24 f3.5, 2 min exposure at ISO 400 and probably f4.5 or 5.6. I tried a bit of light painting on the foreground grass.
I waited for a while though, and the clouds thinned out a bit, and the aurora picked up again. Nothing too crazy, but it was still nice to be out there, very peaceful. At one point I had a mink or something similar pay me a visit, swimming around the bunch of grass in the foreground.
K1 and Rokinon 14mm f2.8 @ f3.2. 90 seconds @ ISO 1600.
This shot was back to the old 24mm.
This was looking the other direction with the 14 mm.
