Here's an attempt at a composite shot of the moon from my yard last week, long exposure for the trees and shorter for the moon. It's not as easy as I thought it would be to do the masking. Taken with my SMC A 400 and K1.

And here's a similar shot from this summer, not a composite. This one was taken with my Tamron 500mm mirror lens and K3.

Very nice. I have seen this before without the star trails from the fight deck of an aircraft carrier. Looking up into the infinite night sky has a way of making you feel just a little small/insignificant when consider the vastness or the BIGNESS of the universe. Thanks for sharing. Light pollution on the horizon?? Cliff

Thank you kindly. I've had similar when flying over the pacific at night and agree it is a very humbling experience. There was a fishing boat moving along the water that caused the horizon light. I did not see it until near the end of the exposures.

Here's a shot I took recently of the moon from my yard. The ring caught my eye, so I figured it was worth a shot. Ice crystals in the atmosphere I think? Taken with K1 and Rokinon 14mm f2.8.

Bought some new software and have been putting it through its paces trying to learn it. This is an oldie I reworked with it - I kind of like the effect, even if it veers away from being exactly realistic.
