This thread was a great idea. Kudos. I find some cemeteries have amazing beauty and history. I know some people find them creepy but not me. Looking at graves from the 1800's of European Jews who came and settled in the south, particularly Natchez, MS is fascinating to me.

I visited the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii with my parents when I was 18 years old. It really hit me when I realized that so many of the markers were for people who would have been so near my age when they died.

Natchez, MS cemetery. Incredible stained glass shot through metal gate.

Lead lettering doesn't necessarily stand the test of time.

Benjamin Rappaport here left Austria 1879 to immigrate to Natchez, MS. Died 1903. Fascinating cemetery with large Jewish area comprised of Austrian and Bavarian Jews who came to Natchez, MS in the latter 1800's and early 1900's. Can't imagine the hardship of creating a new life in a strange faraway land. This is a must see if ever in MS. Today we moan if the cable goes out.

Storming through the pearly gates on horseback brandishing a sword would make quite an entrance!

Boxes filled with ashes of people murdered by Germans in Concentration Camp Sztutowo (Konzentrationslager Stutthof). Dunno if it counts as graveyard.
