General-a group of 5 show up at all temple festivals. Costume is hand made with elaborate embroidered clothing

Temple Instruments

In fact these are objects used by devotees in the parade.Sometimes they'll flog themselves with mace-like device to show how devoted they are.

Mystery

Calligraphy looks like a bunch of squiggles to the outsider but to Chinese and Japanese it is the highly regarded art form of brush stroked characters.
