Very tough competition, but wanted to throw my hat in the ring for fun!

Taken at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, Vermont- the Dutton house, on the third floor. Kit lens, 18mm, f/5.0 1/2 second. A bit of work in LR and barrel distortion fix in PS. Thought about making it pure monochrome, but liked the subtle plays of blue in the light on the walls with the walnut of the chair, so kept it color.

Edit: updated the photo with full EXIF- yes, it really was 1/2 second! ISO 800.

When outside in the game land or hawk watching (during spring and fall), I generally use the 1000/f11 reflex, handheld. It's heavy, but once you get use to it, almost any other lens seems light and easy to carry.

The two photos are both from the neighboring game land. The first is of a red-tailed hawk checking me out (from three or fourl hundred feet). Probably shot at about 1/500 to 1/1000 with the *1st D.

The second is of a green heron, taken at a slower speed. Interesting motion blur. That was taken with a K200D.

However, I haven't quite figured out the upload system here. The RT photo is 900 pixels wide but appears narrower than the 800-pixel green heron.

It doesn't stand the chance against the other entries and I'd be happy to let someone else have the prize anyway..

All of my shots are handheld but I get the point of the challenge.

While not done with a slow shutter speed (1/320 @ f9) it is a 600mm (actual focal length) shot taken with a K7 and a Vivitar 600-1000 telescope type zoom. It's cropped a little but I still think it worked out well (even if it was a lucky shot ).

Good luck on choosing a winner, I don't envy you.

Shot these the other day and wanted to share them because they were some tricky handheld shots. Wishin' I could go back and change my train track entry to one of these. Btw, what ever happened here? Did you choose a winner?
