a bratwurst says hello

A nice hello from (you already guessed it) Germany.

I started with photography as a hobby this year when I bought my K20D. Before I only shot with compact cameras so I am still experimenting what can be done with my new "tool" .
Landscapes and architecture fascinates me most, but can be found only rarely in in the mid-east of Germany(unless you like Soviet architecture).
I am also interested in other kinds of art, especially painting.(any Hopper fans out there?)
Sorry if my English is not always perfect, but I'd say learning by doing, so it will hopefully improve.

Welcome to the forum. I'd love to have one of those good German wursts now. Good luck with your new camera. Please post some of your photos.

Can I call you Bis? Welcome!

Is Bismuth a German name?

By way of my grandparents, I'm half German, 1/4 Russian, and 1/4 Polish--so I'm ALL screwed up. Mother's maiden name Deutch.

And there may be an "s" in there somewhere, but I never asked.

Hopefully not, at least I haven't met anybody with this name.
It's a chemical element and the name comes from the German word wismut and it was first discovered in Saxony the region I come from. It produces also very colorful and bizarre looking crystals.

Show-off!

Augenblick Mal!

(Did I say that right? It's supposed to mean "Wait a minute," and I learned it in case I ever visit Germany and I get robbed.)

You're right, it does mean 'wait a minute', but in case you should ever get robbed in Germany, I strongly recommend 'Polizei!'

Welcome, Bismuth
