Using old lenses on new digital camera

My question is will the lenses that fit the Pentax film cameras fit the new digital autofocus Pentax cameras. They are bayonet mount lenses. I had good luck with the Pentax film camera, it lasted for years and then went to a Canon powershot G6 witch is already on the blink. I would like to use my old lenses. Thank you for any help

Yes, any old K-mount lens will mechanically fit and be useable with the Pentax DSLRs. You need to go to the CUSTOM menue and set the use of aperture ring enabled, to be able to use the aperture you actually set on the lens. Also, you switch the camera to M-mode (manual expsoure) and get a kind of semi-Av mode, which is quite convenient. Some of the old lenses are still great on digital cameras!

More detailed info here:

Thank you so much for help and the links. I am exited to go back to a Pentax. Have been hanging on the lenses for a while. Just couldn't part with them. Thanks again for your quick reply.

Welcome to the community. I also hope your digital Pentax gives you many years of joy.

I for one have never sold any lens used on the cameras I have owned since 1985. I suspect I am not alone with that statement 'round here.
This is a great forum!

You can actually sell them?

Ok, another question, I am still researching on the Pentax. Here is what I have, a Vivitar 58 MM 70-200 MM Macro focusing zoom, a vivitar 50 MM 2x macro focusing teleconverter MC ( also has writing of P/K-A P-P/k written on it.
A Vivitar wide angle ( One place says 28 MM another writing say 49 MM ) Its been a long time since I have messed with these, so hope you don't think I am silly for asking these questions. I am looking at a Pentax K-x with 12 megapixles and/or a Pentax K-7. What are your recommendations on which camera to buy. I am not a professional photographer. Thank you for your time.

I guess your wide angle has a focal length of 28mm and a filter size of 49mm.

Thanks everyone for your help. The more I read in this forum, the more I have missed my Pentax. Nerver dreamed there was so much information on here. When I get my camera, I think a lot of it will come back, autofocus kinda ruins you.
I have so many good photos of my family and friends from the Pentax film camera.
