Hello from the Peach State

I'm Sue and I joined this forum because I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new K-X camera. I know there will be a learning curve with it and want to get a head start on the learning. I had a Pentax K-1000 for forever until the shutter decided to die on me. I've been using an HP point and shoot something the last few years. I need a decent camera because I am a bead weaver and need to have good photographs to sell online.

I live in the woods with my husband of almost 30 years and a goofy little bichon named Sparky. We are way down in S. Ga.-almost to Fla., on the East Coast. We were empty nesters until Jan. when out only child, a 24 year old son, moved back in with us along with his fiance' and our then 10 month old grandson. I love having them there, but an looking forward to the day they can find employment and their own place.
That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

Thank you. After reading some of the threads in the forum, I am realizing how much I have missed playing with a camera the last few years and about how much I have to learn about DSLRs. LOL!

Great to have you on board Sue.
The forum's a great place to learn and get your feet wet in this fine vocation of photography.
Look forward to seeing some of your results once your K-x arrives.

Hi Sue and welcome to the forums. Is Cedar River Seafood still there and is the fried shrimp still as good as it used to be?

You're in the right place for learning as there are some people here who have incredible knowledge of what digital cameras can (and can't) do.

The only Cedar River Seafood I'm familiar with is down in Fernandina and yes it's still there. There's a better restaurant here now, St. John's Steak and Seafood. Everything is fresh out of the St. John's river and since I grew up (in St. Augustine) eating that, I love it. The fried shrimp and fried gator is delicious.

Thanks for the welcome, everybody. I am trying to absorb what I read here. I took pretty decent shots with my k-1000, but this digital stuff is a whole new ball game.
