Hi

I have been dabbling with 35mm SLR cameras for 30+ years but never considered myself a serious photographer. Five years ago I bought my first digital SLR, a Pentax istDL, which I am still using, and became hooked. The ability to shoot and then manipulate my own images fascinated me and stilll does. I am now on the lookout for a new zoom lens. The Tamron/Pentax 18-250mm looks good but I am not sure I can afford it at the moment.

I am hoping that I might be able to pick up some useful tips on these forums. I might even have some tips of my own to contribute.

Welcome to the forum Colin.
If you can get your hands on a Pentax DA 18-250 (and you like the all-in-one lens) then save up for it - it's a great all-rounder that's been discontinued with no replacement due for a while...
