No, an A-series lenses has AE so you can use it in all exposure modes (Av, Tv etc). You will have to set the camera to manual focus. I don't have a K-x but, with the K100D Super & K20D the focus confirmation hexagon & beep helps you when using MF lenses.

If you want to specialise in using old MF lenses, an accessory split-prism focusing screen is a necessity.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just dropped by this thread to say G'Day from Aus also, as I'm now a first time user, but long time reader.

Very short intro, I have had and used Pentax right back when I was given my first MZ-50! Then took the plunge and was one of the first back where I used to live to order the *istD. Then used it till I almost killed it, and then went for the K-10D which I was totally blown away by. Now I use the K-7 and am so overwhelmed at the changes Pentax make over the new DSLR bodies they release!

So that's the short intro and hope to see you all around the forums.

Let the good times roll!!!!!!!

Thanks James.

Thanks dosdan, I don't really want to specialise in using old MF lenses, I just have a couple from my old Me-Super and curious if I could use them, if I wanted to.

Hi Martin and welcome hope you enjoy your stay
