G'day from Australia

Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to DSLR photography. I recently purchased the Pentax K-x and a little intimidated by it as I was so use to using my old Pentax ME Super, (many moons ago) and since digital cameras came out I didn't bother upgrading to a DSLR camera and just bought a Lumix pocket camera, which has been a great little pocket camera, but now I find I want more from my photographs.

I've purchased Yvon Bourque's K-X ebook which I'm hoping will help me understand this new camera, and get me started.

I still have many old lenses from my ME Super, in particular my Pentax-A 1:4 35-70mm (which I loved at the time) and was told I would still be able to use this lens on my K-x camera, I assume I would have to use this in manual Mode only??

This looks like a great (active) forum and hope to learn a lot about my new K-x DSLR and getting to know some of you.

I think I'm going to need all the help I can get.

Kind regards
Kimbolina

You'll find plenty of advice here in regards to your manual lenses combined with a DSLR. Unfortunately, i'm not really the one to give it. I have enough troubles with my Super Takumar.

Good luck with your transition into digital & welcome in

Welcome to the forum Kimbo.
You've got a very capable camera in the K-x.
Don't worry much about the complicated menu settings on the camera. You'll get used to them with time; but for now, just focus on the basics (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) and being able to adjust these settings to get the desired results.
Enjoy the digital difference.

Believe me--that's no fun at all these days.
