slightly overwhelmed new member

H all - new member, and making a return to still photography after a period of 30 years. Things havd changed somewhat. I got my K7 last week and immediatley took it to WOMAD. Law of averages dictated that I had to get some shots in focus and some correctly exposed. Every now and then I even managed to get the two correct on the same photo. I can see I am going to need a lot of help and advice!!

Welcome to the forum and digital fotografy.

I say don't try to learn everything at once. Skim the manual. Shoot a bunch. Try things. Read sections of manual for things you could not figure out on your own. Shoot some more.

Welcome to the site!
I'd like to add that nothing beats trial and error when it comes to learning a camera. Though I think your past experience will really help you get your game on with your new camera.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't stress the exposure stuff at this point in time because you'll most likely move to take control of such things soon enough.

Don't forget to post some photos!

I felt the same way when I got my first DSLR. Auto mode is only so good. All the other modes offer so much more, but you have to be in control.
