Hello from Florida!

Hey, just registered here but I'm on my second Pentax.

My interest in photography was jumpstarted on my Honeymoon. My wife and I spent two weeks in Italy (Milan, Venice, Treviso, Praiano, Amalfi, Siena, Florence), and I took over 1100 pictures with our crappy Kodak DX 5MP superzoom. It literally wore the camera out. I had to sell it after that because the aperture was loud and the focus gears sounded like they were missing a few teeth.

So I got myself a Pentax K100D body, and started getting cheap lenses for it. I had a Tamron f3.8 28-200, an FA 28-80 f3.5, and a couple of primes (which I wisely kept when I sold it).

For our next big trip (last summer, New England), I wanted something my wife could use (live view), and wanted to step up from 6MP. I ended up selling the Pentax and getting a Canon 1000D. That Canon was/is a great camera, and I got some fantastic photos out of it, but I chalk that up to the quality of the kit lens over my very slow, dim Tamron.

Problem with the Canon was that my wife didn't end up using it at all, and the Live View implementation was really stupid. Couldn't use it in Full Auto, halfway down on the trigger DIDNT autofocus.

Plus, I missed my Pentax. And I still have a 28mm 2.8 and a 50mm 1.7 in great condition sitting in my drawer.

So next summer, we're going back to Europe. This time, the Côte d'Azure, Provence, and Cinque Terre. So I said to my wife, if I can get around $450 out of my Canon, I can get the K-X for about the same, and then I can do video.

Sure enough, someone bought my EOS the first day I put it on Craigslist for $435. Sam's had the K-X white for $450, and here I am. It arrives Monday.

It's really sad but my new camera is the biggest thing making me excited for my trip at this point. Guess I'm a camera geek.

I'll finish off my introduction with a couple pics taken with my K100D:

Lifehouse, at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, 2008.

Busch Gardens, 2008.

I have more, but they're at home.
