Greetings from Ontario

Where I know I'm not alone, so it will be handy to appeal to some Canadians when I'm sussing out lens prices etc.

Just bought a K20D online for $425 with kit lens - still delighted with the price. Looked for months and months online at reviews, etc.; partner tried to talk me into a Nikon (she has D200) but I wanted to go with the underdog. D90 would have cost me 4 times the price! Sales staff in camera stores are absolutely terrible about selling Pentax, it's struck me. Every visit I felt pushed towards Canon or Nikon. I don't like to be pushed. I knew more than they knew about Pentax just from reading.

Great camera, though a long learning curve, I think. SEEMS to underexpose, and I've read that, but everything could still just be me. I'm punching up settings to see what I like, but right now I'm more like a kid pushing buttons than a seasoned photographer. Love the build and the ergonomics. I'd be interested to know what others have found works best for them, but of course saturation, etc. can be very subjective.

Love how much information is on this forum and how quick everyone is to help out. I'll be making use of it frequently. Well, daily, it would seem ...

Welcome! Your K20D will give you years of good service... mine has so far!

The best advice anyone gave to me (which I promptly ignored) was to keep a single lens on the camera for a year, and the 18-55mm is a great kit lens for the job! I almost wished I'd listened, since now I'm starting a month with only one of my 10 lenses!
