New to this

Just thought I'd introduce myself. I am a junior mechanical engineering student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. I have never owned a camera, and since mine is in the mail, I guess I still won't until Friday (Sept. 10). But anyways, I got interested in photography by using my roommate's Pentax K100D and I wasn't able to use it at all this summer since I was back home. Now that we are back at school I am looking to get into this much more and cannot wait for my K-X. I am looking for tips and hints on how to make the most out of my pictures, so this seemed to be the best place to come!

My camera arrived today! Too bad it's the first day of class here at MSOE, but I should be able to get some shots in before the day is over.

Take your time reading the manual first!

And have fun!

Wait--that's an oxymoron, isn't it?

I have a K-x too, so any questions that you don't want to post in the general forums, feel free to PM me. Not saying I'm a major expert, but I can still help you along this wonderful journey you're about to embark upon.

But don't start acting all engineering on me. You guys are WEIRD sometimes!!!

Haha, yes us engineering folk can be a bit strange at times, but I'll try not to be. Haha! But thank you very much for the offer, I'm sure I'll have a few questions. There is just so much stuff you can do on this camera that I think I'll be carrying the manual with me the first couple times I go out.
