G'day from Mooroolbark, also Melb, Vic.

Liza-Jayne- Did you know that Melb Fla was named after Melb, Vic? The story as I recall it, is that someone from here went over to the states and set up some sort of crossroads store, that developed into a town and he named after his home town....Melbourne!

Good memory. From Wikipedia:

"The city was named Melbourne in honor of its first postmaster, Cornthwaite John Hector, an Englishman who had spent much of his life in Melbourne, Australia."

A bit late, but better than never. Welcome, from the other side of Tasmania, the rugged west coast.

Thanks Ira, for the additional information. The two stories are not mutually exclusive. Melbourne of course, was the name of a British Prime Minister.
