Hello from Colorado

Hello All,

I've technically been a member here for awhile, but never really hung out much. Things have gotten a bit too grouchy for my liking over in DPR-land, though, so I think it's time for a change of scenery.

About me -- I've been interested in photography since I was 9 (I turn 30 next month ). I started with M42, moved to Canon FD, switched to Canon EOS including my first DSLR (a Canon D60) and then settled on Pentax in September of 2006 with a K100D. Along the way, I've played with Medium and Large Format and I still shoot film from time to time. I'm looking forward to one more autumn with Kodachrome (which I'll be shooting in a P3N!).

My current kit looks like this:

K20D
K-x
DA 14mm f2.8
DA 21mm f3.2
Tamron 28mm f2.5
M 28mm f3.5 (that has some iris issues, so it doesn't see a lot of use)
FA 50mm f1.4
SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4
Mamiya Sekor 60mm f2.8 Macro
FA 77mm f1.8
M 135mm f3.5
Tamron SP 180mm f2.5
Tamron SP 300mm f2.8
DA L 18-55mm f3.5-5.6
DA 50-200mm f4-5.6 (that I'm thinking of ditching if I can figure out another lightweight telezoom for hiking)

I've got shelves full of other miscellaneous gear, too, but that's what's most likely to be on me.

Apart from the love of photography, I also enjoy spending time in Colorado's backcountry, biking, singing and messing around with my piano, and railfanning. I have an amazing girlfriend who lives in Western New York (we met on Flickr...thanks to Spotmatic!). We're currently proving that long distance relationships can work as we celebrated our first anniversary in August. I work as a concrete estimator for a flatwork company in Denver.

I look forward to poking around the forums a bit more, and finding a new home!

Thanks!

Chris

Welcome, Chris! I have no idea what railfanning is. Railroad enthusiast? Sounds like a full life. Glad to have you here.

Yup! I spend a lot of my free time chasing trains, riding tourist railroads, reading about railroading, etc.

I've been fortunate to meet a couple of the big names of railroad photography and hope someday to make a bit more out of it than just a hobby.

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Chris and welcome or sort of welcome since you have been here pobably longer than me.

I also tried out a long distance relationship and we have been together for 16 years and married for 7.

It can work - we did it for four years - but eventually we wanted a future together and moved close.

Ha! I didn't think to check your join date. You've been a member a year longer than I have!
