Falling for Niagara

I just moved to Niagara Falls - lots of opportunities for photography lovers. Been shooting Pentax since MEF and still use all those old wonderful lenses. Now using a K-7 and really wish for an update of the Pentax flashes to match.

Do you work in the Hotel industry or for the University? I can't imagine why any other reason anyone would want to live in Niagara Falls

Niagara

What? Living right beside one of the 7 wonders of the world. Four fantastic seasons. A rich culture, history, and a vibrant arts community. Low housing prices. I am amazed that the whole country isn't flocking here. (Oops, sorry - I forgot we are keeping that a secret).

On the other hand, there's the Buffalo Bills sigh!

But more to the point, 5 grandchildren living within driving distance of here. Pretty hard to beat.

Well, if you like falling water, you've moved to the right state. And in another month or so there will be plenty of frozen water falling from the sky

The next few weeks is the best time of year for Letchworth State Park. Have lunch or dinner at the Glen Iris Inn.

Thanks for the advice about Letchworth. I think we'll do that.

Welcome to the forum, as long as your falling for and not falling in Niagara

I was there many years ago and could not believe how close you could get to the lip of the falls from the Canadian side. Maybe all changed now with all the health & safety stuff that's around these days.

Actually took some shots just upstream from the American Falls. http://pixbyted.smugmug.com/photos/940959581_WfiBB-M.jpg

Could have launched my barrel from anywhere. I guess the lawyers haven't noticed yet. The Canadian side is more scenic, but gawdawful touristy and way too much concern by officialdom about my safety.

I'll volunteer to share a barrel with that young lady if she is at all concerned about going over the falls alone.

She entered that shot into "Buffalo's Hottest Mom's" - a local radio station contest, and was selected as a finalist. I think she ranked 10th out of well over 100 entries. She says her success was due to my K-7. Methinks the image has a few non-technological attributes.
