Hi from Italy

Hi guys! This is Giuseppe, from Italy. Some months ago I decided it was time, for me, to explore a new way to take photos... So I started reading here and there, guides, reviews and so on... spoke with a friend of mine who introduced me to the Pentax world... and it was love at first sight
Now I'm still collecting money... trying to make a choice... K-r, K-x..? Still not sure about that...

See you

Welcome to the forums!

Compared to the k-x, the k-r has some extra features, most importantly:

- AF point indication in the viewfinder,

- Improved autofocus performance, especially in live view (it seems),

- Higher resolution display.

I'm sure either would be a good choice, the k-x is significantly cheaper though. In my opinion the extra features aren't essential, so for the best value for money (and/or an extra lens) I'd go for the k-x. If on the other hand, the difference in price doesn't seem like that much money for you, the extra features are nice to have.

If you decide to get the k-x be sure to check out the battery issue here (basically, get Sanyo Eneloops or similar). In any case, consider the 55-300mm zoom which can be had for a reasonable price as a two lens kit.

Hello Guiseppe. Welcome.
Hope you enjoy the forum and choosing a new camera.
Both the K-r and K-x are excellent choices - can't go wrong.

Thanks to both of you
I'm going to make a choice as soon as k-r appears on Italian market, so I can compare prices and offers. As for lenses.. I'll start with a base kit, since I'd like to buy, after some practice with the camera (it's going to be my first DSLR..), the 55-300 you mentioned in DA version, then probably some primes... but I think these "needs" come with time and experience ...
