hi,
i found the forum first as a resource for information on pentax lenses (and a great one it is)
i started to shoot with a smena, moved up to a praktica (boy, was i happy...), next was a minolta srt super (excelent camera, the praktica had given up and locked while on assignment), a seagull (loved it, still miss it
), a pentacon six. meanwhile, the darkroom gear was growing, i was switching to b&w, and seldom colour processing at home, the street labs being worthless in their inconsistency.
after a long break, lately came a nikon d50 (i kind of liked the k100d, but couldn't find it in stock at the right price), after shooting the excelent nikon for about half a year (and being very happy with it), i oculdn't help myself anymore and, against everybody's advice, got the k100d. there's no huge difference to speak of, frankly, except that the k100d had me at hello and was on my mind eversince (allthough i got the nikon), and that i kind of hate nikon's attitude lately (i.e. : "want to shoot old lenses? get the d200 or more" as opposed to "want to shoot old lenses? sure, no problem, get any slr, put any_lens_we_ever_made_before_that_slr_was_built on it and shoot" ). i wouldn't say "proud" about me owning the k100d, i'd just say... finally at peace with myself and enjoying every trip of the shutter
i finally joined here based on the quality of the winning photos for the monthly contests (makes one feel humble, very nice
) and the quality of information in here
ps: i hate forums, generally
, so this is a notable exception.
