Soon to be Pentaxian in Indy

Hi folks, been lurking around and thought I ought to introduce myself.

I will soon be pulling the trigger on the K-x 18-55 and 55-300 kit. It'll be my first dSLR.

I'm currently shooting a Fuji S9000. Original bought for jewelry photography. It's great for that and just walking around camera, but I want more

I also just bought a Canon F-1 with several lenses from an estate for a very nice price. I doubt I'll use it much, but have been thinking of film for B&W for a while and couldn't turn this down. I figure if I can get good shots out of a camera that expects me to do everything, dSLR will be a breeze (yeah, that's me being overconfident!)

Oh yeah, just a warning, I may shoot jewelry semi-professionally (meaning I do it for free for friends unless they want a white background, then I charge them enough they go to someone else ) But my walkabout photos are usually taken in cemeteries. Hey, it's a hobby...

Anyway, nice to find you guys and I look forward to becoming a full fledged Pentaxian (just tell me I don't have to give up my other toys, please?)

Tamara

Ash, thanks for the welcome and thank you for the thread, I hadn't found that one! I always love to see how other people see cemeteries.

Welcome to the forum, from another Indianapolite (north side). Enjoy your time here - and I guess you've perused Crown Hill?

Thanks Bactman, spent many a day in Crown Hill, and many more to come I'm sure. East side myself (but not the scary part).

Welcome to the list. I just joined also. You bought the exact same kit I did. I used it for the first time this week and I'm really enjoying learning about photography and using the K-X. I can't say that I've taken any great shots or anything but I'm beginning to understand more and more each day. You'll have a lot of fun!

Hey kbrede, welcome yourself.

I'm hoping to order this week. Can't wait. I spent most of the weekend playing with my old film camera, should be interesting to see what I get back! ;>

Enjoy your new k-x.

Welcome to the crowd. I'm on the north side of Cincinnati. I usually make the trek to Speedway each May for Pole Day. 200 mph cars sure do challenge your skills!

Enjoy your new toy!

Wow! Great shots. Strangely enough, I've never been to the track. May have to go take pics for Mutt Strut next year. Afraid that the race festivities are a bit loud for me. Enjoy spring in Indy next year.
