Hi from Italy

Hi to all, I have just subscribed to the forum after a few year absence from the Pentax world.

I have been a Pentax user since 1982 up to three years a go, when I sold nearly all my gear to switch to a Coolpix 5700.

Now I am waiting to buy a K10D, to return to a camera world I sorely missed.

Along my years as a Pentax fan, I have owned: ME Super, Super A, MX (still have), Z1 and Z1P; Takumar Fish Eye 17; K 18 f/3,5; A 24 f/2,8; K 28 Shift; M 40 f/2,8 (still have); FA 50 f/1,4; Takumar Macro 100 f/4, M macro 100 f/4, Bellow 100 f/4; F 300 f/4,5 (still have); A 35~200 f/4~5,6; FA 28~70 f/4; F 70~210 f/4~5,6 (a gem, I miss it badly).

As I said, I am waiting to buy the K10D, along the future 16~50 f/2,8, a flash and remote, plus a big close up lenses from some other manifacturer since Pentax doesn't have one.

Ouch! Did I read you right. You sold almost all your gear which includes lenses? That has got to hurt considering you are looking into a purchase of the K10D. Tell us it isn't so.

Most welcome and we all look forward to some excellent shots.

Ooh, I can't imagine selling all that gear to go to a Coolpix.

Welcome back to pentax!

You read right, I sold all of my gear, the only lenses I still have are the 40 and the 300.

And, yes, I too can't believe (now) that I sold all of that to the Coolpix. But back to those days, there was not an affordable digital Pentax comparable to the Coolpix 5700, and in the first year I owned it, I did more pictures than the previous five years with film on Pentax.

But, luckily, now the Pentax camera of my dreams does exists, and whenever I will see it here in Italy I will buy one. Then I will have to wait for the 16-50!

I can somewhat relate. I didn't sell my equipment but, as with you, the first year I had digital I also shot more than the previous 5 years. Well, onwards and upwards. Looks like you still have a potent 300 lense to work with.
