Hello there,

I am new here and I just joined the forum. After the Analog period (Minolta) I switched to Pentax K10D with a pentax 18-250 and the 100mm 2.8. lenses in 2007.

Alltough the K10D is capable of making very good pictures I always had troubles with the dark/light parts. Used the camara always in Manual cause the other buttons could not satisfy the quality I expected (to light or to dark).

Beside landscapes, portraits, I really like taking pictures at concerts which I did with the 18-250 mm a lot. Some turned out good and more turned out bad......but always a challange.
I almost switched to Canon 5 D MKII, until I read about the K5 and fell for it and ordered it with the Pentax 50-135mm 2.8 lens expect to arrive tuesday 21-12-2010.

Beside the 50-135 lens I try to find out which lens is suitable for landscapes as for concerts/lowlight and hope to find and share it here in the forum.

Arrived today 22-12-2010, the battery is charging and of course checking for the stains I hope my don't have any.......keep you posted.

After two days testing of my dream combination K-5 with the DA 50-135mm 2.8 I am a bit disappointed. The pictures are not crisp, bright and as I aspected. It is as there is a soft focus around the edges. I tried my old lens Pentax 18-250 mm and is much better than the DA50-135.

I think the lens has a defect and might sent it back.

I think you are correct on the bad lens, they all look out of focus. I owned the lens and it's alot sharper than that.
Also I use the Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 EX DC for landscapes

@Fl_Gulfer thank you for your reply, I sent the lens back and ask for a replacement. What I have seen so far on the Forum and on Flickr, looks like sharp bright pictures taken with the 50-135mm 2.8.
Just did a test with my old lens the 18-250 and the pictures turned out better than with the 50-135mm 2.8 !!!
