Found this site in my month long search for the perfect first dslr. I'm looking to take the next step and make that purchase...but it's very tough to choose between all of the amazing cameras out there. I've been looking closely at the pentax k-x, nikon d3100 and the nikon d90...Got any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you on board. If you post your question in the Pentax Beginners Corner you will get answers to your questions. Pentax is certainly a good choice for your first Digital SLR for a variety of reasons.

Welcome to the forums.

The "perfect" camera depends heavily on what you like to shoot.

If you know that in advance, then try checking the price/performance of the 3 or 5 lenses you will someday want to get for those shots. Then, find a good body to put on the back of them.

I'm no expert but for a first DSLR a K-x should work fine. It's my first and I'm loving it. The only thing I wish at this point, is that the K-x was weatherproof.

There are many things to consider when buying a new DSLR

There is however a certain amount of bias here.....................like........

I'm not going to recommend a "Kanon" (deliberate mispell!)

Get a K-5 if that's in the budget
otherwise the K-7, K-r and K-x in that order.................................
