Hi From Montreal, Canada

Hi, I am an engineer travelling around teh world and have been become a fan of DSLR and my first camera in life was a Pantax Optio E60, loved it that the next year I bought the K20D. Now I am on the hunt for lenses that will suit my travel needs. I just bought the Sigma 18-250mm DC HSM and now looking for a low light condition lens.

I want a cheap price lens, as I travel often and might get a little bit rough sometimes (especially when you have a car crash and your camera is sitting on the passenger seat !)

Well I hope to learn a lot from this forum and improve my photo skills (no need to tell, I need to take pictures to improve them, but comments from users are always good way to start or might be good ideas for photography).

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

You could look for an older prime lens like the M 50mm f/1.4 for less than $100.

Good to have you here.
Cheap fast lens? Lots of the manual focus 50mm varieties are cheap and good to use, but if you're after auto focus, then something like the Tamron 17-50 is as cheap as you'll get for a f/2.8 zoom.

Welcome aboard. Are you in Montréal, or from Montréal?

In any case, you'll love it around here!

Honestly if you're going to do car crashes, and Optio W90 point and shoot, shock proof, water proof, but not a DSLR. I also have a K20D, I've just pre-ordered an 18-135 to be my carry around lens. Water resistant, dust resistant ( but not shock proof for car accidents.) If I was in your position I'd bite the bullet and spend the dough. I bought a Pentax to make use of old lenses, but that never actually happened, so I'm probably not the best advice on this issue.
