Oh for crying out loud, not another Australian

Greetings fellow Pentaxians, I've recently become a proud owner of a K-r which was actually a Christmas present; they could not have foreseen the monster they would unwittingly create. Unfortunately, I seemed to have been infected with a bad case of G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and managed to amass a small horde of lens and accessories in short order.

In order to mitigate my condition somewhat, I figured that I would join this forum; to at least be among like minded individuals as I spiral further into the abyss, every last drop of disposable income converted into precision glass and silky satin metal.

The first step, apparently, is admitting you have a problem. This is infection + 42 days:

Just kidding, the pic is actually for travel insurance purposes; I'm off to Malaysia in 2 days.

Great to meet you all, looking forward to getting know everyone on the forum. Please take it easy on the n00b.

Cheers,
Ben

Welcome to the forum. Most of us call it LBA (Lens Buying Addiction) instead of G.A.S. which I have had for 8+ months now. Just can't seem to "try" enough glass. When my collection hits the $5000 mark I'm going to sell it all and re-invest in a K-5 and some limited Glass.
Anyway, welcome!

The first step is admitting you have a problem, the second step is going broke, then you won't have "that" problem any more.

G'day and welcome, Ben from another Aussie. There are plenty of us here.

It's probably no help to know that there is no cure for your syndrome. I have had it for over 35 years and I'm still acquiring new gear.

Another Aussie here, with the same addiction, but a sensible partner who "helps me manage it"... :-)

and yet another

Seems to be a few of us but still a minority I guess. I'm new here and haven't yet worked out how to post a new message to intro myself. Hope to do that soon.

Pentax has been my only brand since 1982.

Hi Ben, welcome, good to see yet another Perth addition, there's plenty of us here ...

P.S. you may as well give in to your addiction now and just enjoy the ride!

Sydney here. I'm suprised so many aussies here too considering how little Pentax is represented in the shops- the Kx/Kr got alot of good press which probably helped. SO maybe we appreciate an underdog! Hopefully the K30 has a similar effect in bringing in new Pentax users and regaining old ones
