I picked up a navy blue K-x on eBay for just under $500, and have spent the last week trying to relearn all my old dusty SLR knowledge.
I chose Pentax because thats the film camera I had (and somewhere, somewhere... I have a box of lenses that I had with the old camera).
So far I'm loving the hell out of the new camera, and have started a disturbing new habit of prowling eBay looking for cheap lenses.
So far I grabbed an old Sears 80-200mm and just today I picked up a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DL Macro Super for $27. Is there a support group for what I'm thinking could turn into a really awkward habit?
One of the big reasons I went with Pentax (besides pretty blatant brand loyalty from my long-ago film days) was the fact it can handle high ISO's/low light better then its competition. Being here in rural Maine I expect to spend a lot of time sitting taking night shots. I'm fortunate in that where I live light pollution is pretty much low to non existant.
Here are a couple of my shots so far with the new camera - its a huge jump from my old Powershot and the cheap-o Kodak point and shoots I've had for the past 15 years!
View the other night looking out my driveway.
Playing with the Sears lens.
