Hi all

Recently bought my first dSLR; a K-5, and I'm lovin it! It feels great in my hands, makes pretty pictures, is weather resistant so I don't have to worry on trips outdoors, and seems really well built. If cameras were assault rifles, this would be a high-tech version of the AK-47 - rugged with serious capabilities (I do like history and technology).

I've been reading here for some weeks now, so far I love the huge amount of down to earth, knowledgeable people that seem to reside here. That being said, I should probably introduce myself properly, so;

Hi all, I'm Thor - I recently became a pentaxanian, and I have just started desiring Ltds. Nice to meet you.

Welcome to the forum, you would appear to be cultivating your LBA quite nicely.

well, I usually take good care of my stuff, and like to buy proper things. if i bought something "less perfect" i know myself well enough to know i would end up buying an upgrade after just a year or two anyways, so i decided to save some money by buying what i really wanted in the first place.

I agree, it sounds a lot like LBA, but hey; you can't be an addict if you've never tried the drug
Also, I've moved out and make my own money, but still haven't married or moved in with my gf. Thus I'm at one of the few points in a life where no woman can tell me I can't use a lot of money on "unnecessary" stuff for a hobby.

to those with spouses: how do you guys get permission?

Hi Thor, welcome here and to Pentax.
We have had numerous posts here discussing the constant battle between the non-photographic spouse and LBA, and in summary it's best dealt with by giving the spouse what he/she would want to similar value as the desired equipment inasmuch as you purchase your own gear. And you have two happy parties.

See also here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-photography/117177-wife-has-deman...penditure.html, but don't be discouraged by it - have good communication and mutual understanding and no-one will get hurt.
