Hello there

Hi guys,
I just jumped on the K-X deal that was recently on woot. This will be my first DSLR and I have no experience, so I figured it would be better to buy a cheaper one.

Trying to figure out what I want to do with lenses. The 55-300mm one looks like a good pair with the standard kit lens.

I think I will just try to buy some cheap used ones from the marketplace.

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you on board. It may pay to rethink your theory of going for the cheaper with less options camera and lenses to start off with. I did this when I did a beginners Digital SLR course at a TAFE College and started with the K200D but found I very soon outgrew this camera and had to step up to the K20D which I kept for a couple of years. I've now progressed to the K-5 but will be keeping the K20D as a back up. I sold the K200D plus kit because I didn't need 3 cameras and as per usual at a great loss. So my point is, buy a camera you'll grow into and learn from as it works out much cheaper in the long run. Hope this helps.

Welcome here and no doubt the 55-300 is a good choice as one of the most compact yet best optical quality telezoom available. Enjoy the forum and your photography.
