just a mum

I have a k100d I bought 5 years ago after I paid a ridiculous amount of money for some studio shots of the family and hated them. I figured I'd just spend the money on a camera and start taking photos myself. I've loved it, even in just point and shoot mode we have been more then happy with the results we have had.

I am just now having difficulties with dust ( it was cleaned professionally last year at camera house but I *really* need to learn to do this myself somehow).

I mostly take photos of my kid and some of my garden, and odd objects I like. I'm still learning the ins and outs of it, but am happy to admit I still use the auto modes alot

I would love to learn more about how to create light airy photos Keen to learn from the experts

Welcome mum. It's usually the way with photography - an infectious and passionate hobby.
The K100D is a difficult camera to have its sensor cleaned as the dust seems to be a lot more stubborn compared to the higher end models. Enjoy your journey and your time here.

Welcome aboard

As for cleaning the dust, the first line of defense would be the rubber-bulb air blower. Giotto's rocket-blower seems to be very popular. So far the blower has taken care it for me, but I have a Pentax O-ICK1 tool on the shelf in case that fails . As one costs less than a single professional cleaning I thought it worth having (it seemed to be a bit hard to find so I tought I might as well have it in reserve ).
