As a 15 year MX shooter... I recently purchased my first DSLR. A K-x... something to get my feet wet to learn the ropes on Digital Photography. After looking at Nikon, Canon, Pentax... the choice came down to a K7 or a Kx and I chose the k-x to spend time learning how to take good digital shots BEFORE purchasing a more pro-style camera.
Why stay with Pentax? Vintage lens compatability. When researching DSLR's... I could not get over the fact my collection of Pentax manual lenses from 35 years ago would work on a new Digital camera.
So, with the purchase came a kit lens.. 18-55. It works.. it auto this and auto that... blah blah blah. Pictures are fine.. nothing stellar. Okay... how do I turn off all this auto stuff and get a manual lens rockin. Out comes the 100mm Macro f4. Man...after shooting the first 10 pictures through this lens... the Pentax family makes all the sense in the world! Really.. really... really like the IQ.
Its as if the camera body has all the potential it needs... you just need good quality glass to bring out the full potential! Highly recommend the Pentax family!! Yeah Pentax!!
