Hello from central New York

Just joined about ten minutes ago. Love the fact that we have a forum devoted to our specific cameras. Have been in love with cameras sice my dad gave me one in 1947 (yes I am a geezer) - a serious photographer since the early 1950s. Put forty years oin the classroom as an art and photography teacher. Ran two photo businesses- one wedding/portrait business for twenty years to help pay bills. Closed it and did architecture and small product work for another ten. Finally decided to just enjoy my photography so am now a happy amateur.

Worked with medium format rollies and mamiya for weddings, 4x5 for architecture and product. My first Pentax was a Spotmatic 500. Have used Pentax ever since - Spotmatx 1000, KX, Me, ME Super, z-5s, IstD and now a K7. Gave up my darkroom about five years ago and am delighted with PhotoShop and an Epson 2400. Love digital and have no trouble with the demise of film.

From a fellow Central New Yorker, welcome. There are a few of us here on the board. Right now I'm climbing the walls waiting for mud season to end.

cemeteryman explained

I am an amateur art historian too. My favorite subject is funerary art. The beauty to be found in cemeteries rivals much of that found in museums. I have been studying the subject for four decades, teach a class in American cemetery art at SUNY and am a member of The Association For Gravestone Studies gravestonestudies.org .

I have a show coming up at SUNYIT in Utica of my photographs of Italian memorial sculpture.

I gab about my love for this subject - and about photography on a blog - Gravestones & Photographs if anyone is interested.

Very interested. I fell in love with old cemetery art when in New
England. Boston, Marblehead, Salem, Lexington, Duxbury. Also
St Louis #1 in New Orleans. Will check out your site.

Welcome to the forum, Nice blog, i'll keep an eye on it i too like cemetery art
and there are plenty of older guys here (some of us still using film alongside our digital)
I had a big chunk of the same pentax path myself, but didn't go MF until post digital world when it plummeted in price allowing me to experiment with it

Wow... little late seeing this thread... but welcome... sounds like we might be neighbors. I work at SUNY about 30 miles south of IT. :-)
