Hello from Deployed Location (from MD)

Hi all! I just picked up a olive K-X on Woot® : One Day, One Deal?, I am really happy with my purchase and can't wait to take some great pictures! I haven't had a SLR camera since my old Canon AE-1 (not even sure if it was a SLR). I consider myself an amateur photographer, but I love finding out new and fun ways to make a good shot :-) I am really excited to get my hobby going, and this forum seems to be a great resource. I love that I'll be able to find a wide range of lenses and supplies.

Like the title says, I'm on a deployment right now, have been since last June. I luckily only have a few months left and I get to come back home.

Haha I was thinking that actually...though I'm in the Navy so perhaps I should have gotten a blue one...?

I'm quite pleased with the olive green...I also like how it's not a glossy green, though in the big picture it doesn't matter as much, it's the pictures I'm now able to take

Yeah no kidding, I picked it up for $444, shipped. Now I'm looking for a good few lenses (probably going to have to wait a while though because the other half is having me save my pennies). I think once I get home I'll look around for some good older primes

Sounds like a plan.

The older MF ones are optically good, quite plentiful and kind of cheap for such quality stuff; be sure to check out our review database: Pentax Reviews - Pentax Lens Reviews & Pentax Lens Database if you haven't already

. With the MF lenses an old fashioned split prism / microprism focus screen might be worth considering too.
