Hi, I'm new to photography and just purchased a k-x. I have a couple old but new condition ASAI Pentax lenses and camera I bought in Thailand in 1966 that has probably 10 rolls of film run through it but I plan on doing much more with this model now that I'm retired. As a matter of fact I'm leaving for SF tomorrow and will take my first pictures there. After reading the book and playing with the camera it all seems a bit overwhelming at this point but I'm going to work through it.
Here's a good one, my new puppy chewed up the installation cd before I even knew he had it so i'm in the process of trying to obtain a copy from Pentax. Will be going up to Alaska twice this summer so will be taking lots of pictures I'm sure.

The KX is nice, really nice! It is capable of producing incredible images. The CD that comes with it includes the Ptax image processing software (pretty descent software for developing your raw images), you should be able to download it, should be freely available online. Good luck with your journeys

PS: If those old lenses are screw mounts, get yourself the adapter so you can use them on your KX...

Enjoy the K-x, it's a fine little camera and should keep you shooting for years.

Got back late last night from SF, had a ball and took tons of pics. Thanks for the tip on the download, I'll look around for it. Yes I have the adaptor and am looking forward to using the old lenses. I read in the booklet that after adjusting the focal length on the camera the other settings are automatically compensated for the old lenses. What a deal to be able to bring those old lenses back to life free.
