Hello everyone! I'm Elisha, I live in NC and am owned by two Arabian horses and two fluffy mutt cats. Up until now I've only ever had point-and-shoots: I just bought my first DSLR, a Pentax K-r. It won't get here until next week but I'm sure I'll be having a LOT of n00b moments and questions for the wiser, more experienced photographers so I figured I would go ahead and join. Thanks!

For real! The instant they see that I've bought it, they'll probably immediately hurt themselves on something to make sure I'm still aware that their vet bills come first. :P They will be my primary subjects/moving targets (lol), so hopefully an SLR will serve me well; my P&S has trouble with blur, absurd shutter lag, and its work in low light is just... awful... so the K-r will have its work cut out for it. Ended up getting the 18-55 and 55-300mm kit. I asked my more experienced photographer friends what brand of camera they thought I'd be better off with and the general consensus was that non-Canon/non-Nikon = death sentence, but after researching I just felt like Pentax was calling to me. It was love at first sight, fate, meant to be, etc. I'm optimistic. :P
