I've had two faithful SP1000s in my pre-digital life and after extensive research on the Pentax Forum I've recently bought a new K-r DSLR. So far I'm very impressed with its ease of use, although it is a bit noisy, and I'm having great fun testing the DA* 16-50mm ED AL SDM and the DA 55-300mm ED lenses I bought with it. I'm also revisiting Pentax and Tamron lenses from my old film kit. I'm looking forward to posting some images in due course.

Welcome here mate. You're going to get excellent quality images with your current setup.
Enjoy the fine camera, and participate here once in a while.

There are a few Newcastleans here on the forum too.

Welcome to the group from another Pentaxian who also started with an SP1000 and a Spotmatic SP (still have both of them). Hope you enjoy your new camera as much as I enjoy myK10D.
