Howdy all.
I figured I should actually post a hello - since I sort of forgot to when I first came onto the site to post up some mods to the RF-602 Yongnuo triggers to make them work correctly syncing up to 1/180 on Pentax's....
So Hello!
My name is Adrian if it wasn't obvious
I hail from the Nations Capital, Canberra... but like 90% of the rest of this town, Im not a local so don't hold it too much against me
I am also an avid motorcyclist with a predilection for Yamaha.
I have always enjoyed Photography, but never really got 'into it' beyond 'snaps'. My father was involved in the industry from a retail side back when I was a child - and I remember playing with many 'toys' and things at his store... and I cringe knowing today how much stuff I 'toyed' with as a 10 year old that would really handy about now with my newer hobby today
. In between then and last year I was making do with mainly Point n Shoots till I finally upgraded to a DSLR last year, firstly a K10D followed shortly by a K20D as it came up at a good price.
I find I enjoy shooting Cityscapes, but am trying to stretch myself into portraiture. I also got bitten late last year by the "strobist bug" and have been enjoying immensely learning to control light rather than just working with ambient... I always hated how harsh on-camera flash was and avoided it like the plague... but Off-Camera ? Different world it is!
Artistically - I've always been the kid that couldn't draw
Photography helps to an extent because I can express myself without being held back by complete lack of being able to do much more than make sure I only colour inside the lines
But one aspect I am trying really hard to improve is to actually *compose* shots properly... I am finding increasingly its the little things in an image that makes me flag it rejected which I guess means I hopefully am becoming more self-critical.
Anyway.. probably enough ramblings for the moment (I tend to do that sometimes...
... I like to think of it as excited exuberance... ). I shall close it off with a big thank you to this community - whilst I'm not really in a position to return the favour so to speak very often (if at all) - I can't thank you all for all of the great threads and diverse opinions that are wrapped up in here. I do point people here quite regularly... a good friend also recently joined up here Lurch so blame me if he gets out of hand...
Cheers to all of you.
