Progressing from K1000 35MM to K-DSLR
Hello, Folks:
Today, I joined the forum and hope to obtain your assistance vis-a-vis the K-X:
Does anyone have a good source for lenses, whether new or used? I've been looking at Adorama, B & H, and KEH. If there are other good web stores, or brick & mortar photo shops in the Portland, OR metro area, I'd like to hear about them.
My first foray into photography was in 1990 when I was pleased and surprised to put together a very flexible SLR outdoor photo kit for less than $500: Pentax K1000 body($117), 24MM Wide ($130), 70-210MM Tele ($160), Skylight & Polarizing filters ($64), Tripod ($50), Shutter release ($20) and bag ($50).
The K1000 body, designed during the 1950s, I didn't have second-generation autofocus available in 1990. Nonetheless, I had a ball taking my rig to the Columbia Gorge, Cascade Range, and the Mideast. Autofocus notwithstanding, my little bag of aftermarket tricks outperformed several generations of digital imaging technology.
With the K-2, history appears to repeat itself. The Pentax web shop is bundling it with an 18-55MM for $530. I'm almost there.
Be well,
Bob
