Hello from Sunny California

Hello, I just got around to buying my first actual DSLR, a Pentax K-5, following the recommendations of a coworker. I've shot film for a few years now, and finally decided to jump ship to the digital world when I realized how much money I was blowing on development, and how nice DSLR's had gotten.

I went Pentax, because I've shot my mom's Nikon, my Grandad's Canon, my aunt's Olympus, and my coworker's K-5, and the K-5 shot the best, looked the best, and felt the best. Additionally, the compatibility of old lenses (K-Mount and M42) made me feel like this brand would have the most to offer.

Welcome to the forum! We have a California group subset you can join as well but not much activity there unfortunately.
Good to hear your comparison tests proved out, I love my K-5.

Yeah. The systems I used weren't really the same spec level for the most part, but I found I preferred the actual interface and features of the K-5. Also my coworker said he'd lend me any lens, any time, until I build up a stock, so that factored in as well. XD

Welcome here. I'm sure the K-5 will impress you for years to come. It's definitely the right camera for you if you want backwards compatibility.

Enjoy the forum.
